The Dream

Last night, as I was in a dream
A voice spoke to me it would seem
Calling from the future
Telling me about the ecological rift in need of a suture

I recall at first I was confused
To hear the planets cry for help did not make me amused
How could the situation go so bad?
The more I thought about it there more I started feeling sad

The voice told me it was a monster of mankind’s making
Capitalism with its endless lust for profit-raking
For nature it has no regard
The result is man and nature feeling apart

I realized that something must be done
An agent for planet protection I must become
To fight the battle through teaching and many other ways
So our planet and species continues to exist for many days

What we want is a future that is open
Without a capitalist system leaving everything broken
That is mine and our fight to take
I decided this as soon as I became awake
